There are many types of digital pianos in this world. There are many companies and users. I have a favorite kind though. It's not a particular model. It's not any one digital piano. It's from a company. Yamaha digital pianos are my favorite.

Something about Yamaha just suits me. I personally think that the action from other digital pianos is just too heavy. People complain about the action and say that it's too light, but I find it to be perfect. The action is just right, and most people will already say that the sound quality from Yamaha is top notch. The tone is just perfect. Other digital pianos may have 1 or 2 sampling layers for $700, but Yamaha will provide 4. Other companies may record these samples from some good acoustic pianos, but the samples of Yamaha digital pianos are recorded directly from the best pianos by Yamaha, and they are one of the most prestigious piano companies.

That's another thing. Companies like Casio don't develop acoustic pianos. They only build digital pianos so while they may be technologically great, they don't realize the subtleties that are necessary for a good piano. Yamaha does because they are an actual piano company.

Lastly, the best thing about Yamaha is that they build the perfect digital pianos. There is a specific type for specific people. For example, you look at the Yamaha DGX-640, and it has half a thousand different voices. It's perfect for those that need that many. You look at the Yamaha NP30, and it's the lightest digital piano in the world. It doesn't even need an outlet. Isn't that just perfect for people, who need a portable piano?

I will admit that digital pianos are not yet perfect. The action and sound can look to improve. However, digital pianos can do some amazing things, and the Yamaha digital pianos are excellent. I would recommend that you look into them.
